Just a few days away

It hasn't sunk in that in less than 48 hours we should be meeting baby boy Briggs # 3! Physically I am more than ready as I am really tired and uncomfortable. Emotionally I don't think I'm ready at all as I have no idea how difficult it will be to care for two. I can't wait to hold this little guys in my arms... and have just been praying for good health for him as he joins us. On a daily basis I battle the underlying fear that something will go wrong, as I often remember the same anticipation we had as we waited for Andrew.

Last Saturday night Steve, Jack and I went for a delicious dinner at Outback! It has been our special 'tradition' as that is where we had dinner the Saturday before I went into labor with Andrew. We also had dinner there the Saturday before Jack was born, and now we did the Saturday before this baby. On our drive to  Outback we saw a beautiful rainbow, which as I posted back in 2009 rainbows remind of heaven and where Andrew is. It was very special as it has been almost a year since I last saw a rainbow.

As we're getting our bags ready for the hospital, Steve and I decided to put together a special 'big brother' bag for Jack. He doesn't seem all that thrilled about the idea of a new baby, so we are trying many different things to make him feel special. I found the idea of a big brother bag on pinterest and put a similar one together for him.

The shirt on the left was an iron-on given by my friend Bethany, and I embroidered the shirt on the right. Steve chose the 'baseball' and I'm hoping Jack will like it as well! Most of the things we got at the dollar store and I'm hoping Jack will be very excited! We will give him the bag after he meets his baby brother for the first time.

A few weeks ago some dear friends had a sweet 'Baby Sprinkle' to celebrate this baby. It was very small which I loved as I was able to catch up with everyone who was there. It was just perfect and I really enjoyed this time with these ladies!

(By the way this green dress is the only thing that fits me these days, so I tend to wear it a LOT!)

And lastly... I thought I would share a belly picture of me from two weeks ago around 37-38 weeks (yes I am bigger now!). I often get pitiful smiles from people and comments such as 'Are you having twins?' 'You look like you're ready!' and that day at the beach I got a 'Oh-my-goodness' from a passerby who apparently did not realize I was able to hear her.

I am thankful for the good health and doctor's appointments in this pregnancy. So far this baby looks like he has chubby cheeks and will be 8+ lbs according to the ultrasound estimates :)  And I'm specially thankful for all family and friends who have encouraged and prayed with us for the past 9 months.

Will likely not be posting over the next few weeks, but I hope to get back to it over the summer!
